Founded in 2020, the Good Before All Else (GBAE, pronounced gha’bay) Society is a non-denominational organization of like-minded individuals to discuss aspects of faith, religion, theological, and ethical philosophy based on the principle that the core tenet of all religions and faith is to be good to one another. It is observed that many religions and faiths have become tribal and extend the precepts of good to only members of their collectives or as a method for proselytization. GBAE is intended to be an alternative to such divisiveness by hosting open discussions that are accepting of all persons and aspects of all belief systems that specifically pertain to concepts of good and peace. GBAE does not give nor accept any ideologies or principals of any belief system that commands obedience or the shunning of any other person for any reason so long as those persons are not causing harm to others through their own beliefs or actions. It is by this ideology that GBAE hopes to improve the livelihood and wellbeing of society at large through understanding.
As our name states, it is our core belief that good should come before all other beliefs. That is to say, if a belief excludes, discriminates, or attempts to separate one group from another, then is its not based on the good of society, rather for the benefit of itself.
GBAE takes the best of all faiths to create a theological philosophy to benefit all.
GBAE does this by openly discussing and debating the merits of religious and philosophical tenets. Questioning is highly encourage and the foundation of society meetings.
Principles, that is belfies or tenets in other faiths must have a foundation based upon known statements are coming from widely accepted knowledge founded in scientific principal, empirical evidence, or directly observed. Beliefs are extrapolated from known statements. These beliefs must benefit the greater good or a greater understanding. No belief is commanding, each person has free will and thought. The discussions of GBAE are to enhance our understanding of life and improve how society interacts.
Meetings are to be held in an open public space such as a park, or location open to the public such as an establishment for social gathering.
The purpose of each GBAE meeting is to explore aspects of faith, religion, ethics, and philosophy to discuss and debate a belief system that guides members of society at large. The format of each meeting is akin to salons from the Age of Enlightenment and is based on the free-flowing conversation stemming from the discussion and exploration of a topic. Meetings are meant to ask a question and discover a truth through conversation as a group, not to be a sermon by one. Meetings ask, they do not tell.
GBAE COLLECTS NO MONEY, FEES, DUES, CHARITY, TITHING, OR PROPERTY
Each member is expected to provide for themself or at the benefit of another member for any events, gatherings, or activities.
At their core, each faith is based upon good
Questioning motivation and purpose allows the separation of tenets that exist to support perpetuation of a system or those that truly benefit all
Beliefs should have a foundation rooted in meaningful purpose and not require blind faith
