Principles or tenets are the beliefs formed within the Society. Principles are eternally open for discussion, debate, modification, or dissolvement. They are meant to be guidance on how to live a life as a person who works for the betterment of self and society and to put good before all else.
A principle must start with one of three qualifiers. It is known; It is believed; It is possible. Known statements are based on widely accepted knowledge founded in scientific principal, empirical evidence, or directly observed. Believed statements are thoughts extrapolated from known statements. Possible statements are hypotheses formed based on what is known and what is believed. Known statements are the only of the three that cannot be debated or refuted, unless new, emphatic evidence to the contrary is discovered and accepted by the scientific and academic community. All believed and possible statements must have a foundation based on a known.
The below principles are concepts in no particular order that doe not command or demand obedience, rather hope to spark further discussion.
It is known that the majority of all faiths and religions have tenets related to acts and constraints promoting good such as giving charity to those in need and disapproving of murder and theft. It is believed that the core to the majority of all faiths and religions is to be good to fellow persons as this promotes a flourishing society. It is possible that if another tenet contradicts this core principle, then that tenet should be refuted as it does not act in the betterment of society.
It is known that the majority of all faiths and religions have concept of what is colloquially referred to as “The Golden Rule” (see left) . It is believed that a guiding principle when evaluating how to act in general should be “treat others as you would want to be treated”.
It is known that authoritarian leadership suppresses questioning. It is believed authoritarians do not want questioning as their control does not stand up to examination. It is possible that any belief systems that commands blind faith and condemns questioning is not able to stand up to examination or exist by its own merits.
It is known that emotions such as fear and anger are the easiest to elicit. It is believed that these emotions are often not based on fact or understanding as fact and understanding are antidotes to fear and anger. It is possible that group that attempts to cause action, reaction, or change based on these emotions does not have societies best interests in mind, else fact and understanding would be utilized.
It is known that civilization has grown by smaller groups banding together for the greater good of the collective by sharing resources and defense. The individual belongs to a family, the family belongs to a village, a village belongs to a city state, the city state belongs to a nation, nation belongs to a commonwealth and the commonwealths are connected by a global environment. It is believed that the more people work together, the better everyone will thrive. It is possible that the more inclusive a society is, the greater benefit to all.
It is known that nature shows too much homogeny is bad. The closer a plant, animal or person is related to its mate, the more likely there are to be negative genetic outcomes. The more a single crop is consistently planted in an area, then the soil will be depleted of its nutrients. The more diverse the mates are the more likely positive genetic traits will be produced. The more crops are rotated, the better the soil for supporting life. It is believed that diversity is necessary for forms of growth, culturally and socially. It is possible, diversity is best for society. The more we accept, learn, and take from other cultures, creeds, faiths, and philosophies, the better we will be as humans.
It is known that law is the only sanctioned, visible expression of rules to be followed and punishment of persons who do not follow. It is believed law should be for the protection of people and prevention of harm. It is also believed there is no visible proof of divine sin or punishment thereof. It is possible that there is no concept of sin, only the concept of acts that cause harm.
Based on the knowns and beliefs of the previous statement, it is possible that if laws are meant to benefit society at large, and breaking laws cause harm, then ergo, harm is bad for society at large.
It is known that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted. It is also known the body has energy when it is alive, that thought is energy that can be measured, and that such energy is not present when the body dies. It is believed this energy must go somewhere. It is possible that the energy collects with all other energy that has passed as it is not seen to dissipate in any other form such as light, heat, or other radiation as all other energy does.
It is known that every aspect of life creates stimulus or sensation, e.g., touch, seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, feeling. It is known that when a life form is deprived of experiences that exercise body and mind, it withers and fails. For example, a body that does not move will begin to have physical failure after time. A mind that is not exercised will experience diminished cognitive functions. It is believed that experiences create stimulus and sensations. It is also believed survival of a life form depends on experiences and sensations. Hunger is a sensation that spurs eating which is a life necessity, the pleasant sensation of eating and sensation of tastes encourages this. Procreation of a species is spurred by both physical and mental sensation which is necessary for the continued existence of a species. Need for other humans is spurred by sensation of interaction and cessation of loneliness; solitary confinement is a punishment. It is possible that if life is driven by experiences creating stimulus and experiences, then the purpose of life is to gain experience.
It is known that human personality is comprised of both nature and nurture. It is believed persons act based on their physical inclination and life experience. It is possible that while a person’s physical nature is set as a foundation, it is the life experience that allows for the molding, growing, and changing of the person, therefore it is experience that takes the foundation of a person at the start of life and shapes that person’s personality by the end of life different from how it started. As such, it is possible that if the purpose of life is to experience, and experience changes a person, then the meaning of life is to grow into whatever final outcome a person is based on their life experience.
The possibilities of the three previous principles based on their knowns and beliefs, suggests that it is possible that a person should experience and grow as much as possible so long as does not come at the harm of others.
